Ely, Nevada's First Annual Rail Folk-Fest Concert was held on Saturday, June 13, 1998 & Sunday, June 14, 1998 and provided Family Style Entertainment for all ages.

There was whistle making, old-time hand signals, railroad jargon. railroad stories, railroad jargon, music and poetry and a real "Hobo Jungle" providing samples of the original "Mulligan Stew" recipe for visitors.

Photography, Art & Hobo Etching Displays were provided by Shirley Burman, Richard Steinheimer, Larry Penn, Joel Jenson, Brett Colvin and others who are outstanding artists.

On Sunday the Lions Club provided a Pancake Breakfast and while people were eating, there were and Informal Jam Sessions by the musicians and artists.

Organizers for the June 11 & 12, 1999 Festival promise the event will even be bigger than the one held in 1998, so plan on joining us for a great time.

Ride the "Ghost Train" of Nevada Northern Railway Museum Weekends throughout the summer months.

Ride rolling stock pulled by an authentic steam engine or a diesel engine through downtown Ely, past the ghost town of Lane City, up Robinson Canyon to the historic mining district of Keystone and back or on the Hi-line route past McGill and back.
Ghost Train rides - A unique working railroad.

Some historians call it the best-preserved shortline in America. Among the working "Ghosts" are a 1909 Alco locomotive and a 1910 Baldwin engine. There are over 70 pieces of rolling stock and vintage buildings for you to see.

East Ely Railroad Depot Museum

The East Ely Railroad Depot Museum focuses on the historical industrial development of Nevada as evidenced by the massive copper production in the area which began in 1900.

Located in the historic Nevada Northern Railroad Depot building, the museum interprets mining and transportation heritage. The Museum sits on a complex of 24 historic buildings.

The vast document collection contains thousands of documents that represent the history of the Nevada Northern Railroad. These documents range from payroll ledgers to original right of way maps.
