CAMPING OPPORTUNITIES IN AND NEAR WHITE PINE COUNTY, NEVADA
There are seven partially developed recreation sites that have tables, fire grills and handicapped accessible toilets. Some sites have shade structures at table locations. No fees are required at any site. Site reservations are not available (first come, first served basis).

The following directions to campground locations start at the US 50 and US 93 traffic light in Ely.
Cleve Creek is in Spring Valley near the mouth of a major drainage on the east side of the Schell Creek Range. Cleve Creek is a year-round stream that supports lush greenery around the campsites. From Ely drive 28.3 miles southeast on US 6-50, 12.2 miles north on NV 893 (North Spring Valley Road), then 2½ miles west on a graded road (43 miles total).
Ely Elk Viewing Area is located 12.1 miles south of Ely. Shade shelters and interpretive signs are located in the developed area on the east side of US 6/50/93. Elk can usually be seen during early morning or evening hours.
Gap Mountain is in Nye County and is located near fishing and hunting opportunities in the Kirch Wildlife Area currently has six campsites. From Ely drive 3/4 mile south on US 93, 24.3 miles southwest on US 6, 49.5 miles south on NV 318, turn right at the Kirch Wildlife Area sign and drive 3.3 miles west to the site (77.85 miles total).
Garnet Hill is a nationally known Rockhounding locale which is famous for the dark red garnets found in volcanic rock. From Ely drive about 6.4 miles west on US 50, turn east 1.7 miles to a road junction (take the right fork) travel south then west 1.4 miles to the parking area near Garnet Hill (9½ miles total).
Illipah Reservoir is a popular fishing spot on Illipah Creek. Developed campsites offer tables, fire rings, and windbreaks. Drive 37.1 miles west on US 50, turn west at the highway sign 0.1 miles to a road junction, then go south 1.3 miles (38.5 miles total).
Meadow Valley is in Lincoln County and is located in Nicanor Canyon east of Pioche. From Ely travel 26.4 miles southeast on US 6-50, south 80.8 miles on US 93, then east on NV 322 for 17 miles. The campground is located west of the paved road, 0.8 miles south of the Spring Valley State Park entrance sign (108.9 miles total).
Sacramento Pass is located in a tree-covered area north of majestic Wheeler Peak. There are 10 shade structures, some shade trees and a small fishing pond. From Ely drive 48.6 miles east on US 6-50, then turn right at Osceola intersection.
PRIMITIVE CAMPING OPPORTUNITIES
In addition to the campgrounds previously listed there are numerous campsites established through traditional use. These can be found almost anywhere. Feel free to choose an area that suits your needs. Please pack out any trash where garbage cans have not been provided.
Several of the more popular primitive locations are described below. Locations can be determined by referring to maps that show Township (T) Range (R) and Section (S) information, such as 1:100,000 scale or 7½ minute series quadrangle maps.
Cold Creek Reservoir is a popular fishing area in western White Pine County near the Diamond Mountains LOCATION= T23N R55E S23 & 26
Goshute Creek is located north of Cherry Creek in Steptoe Valley at the mouth of a small stream. Fishing, Goshute Cave and scenic backcountry are nearby attractions. LOCATION= T25N R63E S12
North Creek is located on the northeastern flank of majestic Mount Grafton, the highest mountain on BLM-administered public lands in Nevada LOCATION= T10N R65E S19-21 & 28
Shoshone Ponds is on the western side of the Snake Mountain Range below Wheeler Peak in Great Basin National Park LOCATION= T12N R67E S35 & T13N R67E S2
Weaver Creek is north of Humboldt National Forest and nearby Wheeler Peak LOCATION= T14N R68E S11
Willard Creek is located northwest of Wheeler Peak. This small stream flows into Spring Valley on the west side of the Snake Range LOCATION= T14N R68E S31
