This cemetery is located under U.S. Highway 50, about half way up Monarch Pass.
The Colorado State Highway Department has reports on file that
state no bodies were ever moved at the time the highway was widened and improved
in the 1930's.
Frank Gimlett, the "Hermit of Arbourville," states the same information in his
series of booklets. Some of his information has been found to be incorrect,
however, and must be used with caution. ("Over Trails of Yesterday - Stories of
Colorful Characters That Lived, Labored, Loved, Fought and Died in the Gold and
Silver West",
OLD WEST SERIES, Volumes 1-9, 1943-1951.)
Only the following two Arbourville cemetery interments are known: (See also the
section on Unknown Burials.)
MOORE, Daniel H. Age 80, d. 17 Jan 1903 (Salida Mail 23 Jan 1903)
THOMPSON, George L. d. Jul 1883, killed in the Madonna Mine (Salida Mail 3 Sep
1883)
I will be happy to add any information or make corrections regarding these
individuals. Submitters must allow me to use their contact information
with the new information they provide. Sources that I used to find information
are listed.
